What is Silk Screen Printing?

Silk screen printing, also known simply as screen printing, is a printing technique where ink is pushed through a mesh screen (traditionally made of silk, now usually polyester) onto a surface, such as fabric, paper, or plastic.

A stencil or design is applied to the screen to block certain areas, so the ink only passes through where the design allows.

Why Choose Silk Screen Printing?

Silk screen printing (also known simply as screen printing) is one of the most established and widely used printing methods for apparel and promotional products.
It’s ideal for bulk printing and offers bold, long-lasting results. Here’s why many businesses still choose this traditional method:

✅ Vibrant, Solid Colors Silk screen printing uses thick, opaque inks that produce bold, vivid colors—especially great for logos, text, and simple graphics.
✅ Extremely Durable The prints can withstand heavy washing and wear, making them ideal for uniforms, sportswear, and merchandise that needs to last.
✅ Cost-Effective for Bulk Orders Once the screens are set up, printing large quantities becomes very economical, which is perfect for large events, companies, or brands.
✅ Versatile on Fabrics and Surfaces Can be used on cotton, polyester, blends, and even non-fabric items like wood, plastic, and metal.
✅ Consistent Quality Screen printing delivers consistent results across large batches, with rich, even color and sharp detail.

What is Silk Screen Printing Process?

Here's how the process works in detail:

1

Design Preparation

  • A digital design is created and separated by color, with each color needing its own screen.

2

Screen Creation

  • A mesh screen is coated with a light-sensitive emulsion.

  • The design is then transferred onto the screen using UV light, which hardens the emulsion except where the design blocks the light.

3

Setup

  • The prepared screen is placed on a printing press.

  • The fabric or material is positioned underneath.

4

Printing

  • Ink is poured onto the screen and spread across using a squeegee.

  • The ink passes through the open areas of the stencil and onto the fabric.

5

Curing

  • The printed item is passed through a heat dryer to cure the ink, ensuring it bonds properly to the fabric and becomes durable.

6

Finishing

  • The final product is inspected, trimmed, and packed for delivery.
